The Same All Over
© 1994 Mark Allen

Counting one by one
They’re just a number, but not to themselves
Many pay the price
Big city greed in small city life
Justify if you will, what’s the point in working so
When the man at the top of the ladder, says "We're sorry to let you go."

CHORUS
And it’s the same all over, the same all over
It’s an all too familiar scene
Who calls the shots, and tightens the knots
That strangle society
If we take away all their power, and divide it amongst ourselves
The cycle will end, no need to depend
On the same all over again

Nations go to war
Fighting for freedom when they want control
Soldiers say goodbye
Remains may be hard to identify
Justify if you can, the par of a mother’s pain
When the peace treaty sits on a sofa, but her son had to die in vain

CHORUS
And it’s the same all over, the same all over
It’s an all too unpleasant place
Who yells attack, take the gun from the rack
And annihilate the human race
If we take away all their weapons, and disarm their mentality
The cycle will end, no need to depend
On the same all over again

Turn on the TV, critics can't sensor the sound
We wait for the warning, is it too late to turn us around?

Counting one by one…
Counting, counting, counting
They’re just a number
They’re just a number
They’re just a number
They’re just a number

CHORUS
And it’s the same all over, the same all over
It’s an all too familiar scene
Who call the shots, and tightens the knots
That strangle society
If we take away all their power, and divide it amongst ourselves
The cycle will end, no need to depend
On the same all over again

If we take away all their weapons, and disarm their mentality
The cycle will end, no need to depend
On the same all over again
